Troopers responding to reports of a suicidal person near mile marker 41 in Winslow Township around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1 found the woman on the ledge of an overpass, NJSP said.
The woman started making her way off of the ledge when troopers arrived, but lost her balance and fell 20 feet into the road, police said. An officer partially caught her and helped break the fall.
The woman was treated at the scene and then hospitalized for evaluation, according to authorities.
Responders included officers from the Gloucester Township and Winslow Township police departments, and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Crisis Negotiators team responded.
